Highway 37 Reopens After Flooding, Storm Damage

Both directions of state Highway 37 in unincorporated Marin County were reopened Saturday after roadway flooding shuttered the lanes earlier in the week.

Highway 37, which was closed between Highway 101 and Atherton Avenue, reopened to vehicles Saturday afternoon, according to California Highway Patrol Marin. Westbound lanes were underwater due to the heavy storm that turned the town of Guerneville into an island.

Pumps have been working around the clock to move thousands of gallons of water (17,000 gallons per minute to be precise) out of the roadway and away from area," CHP Marin said on social media.

Officials said they will continue to monitor the area as rain continues to move across the region.
