History Meets Google Street View in SF

The idea is simple: Click a dot on a map and see something historic.

Or as Mission Mission puts it, OldSF.org is like "Google Street View with a flux capacitor."

The new website features 13,000 images from the San Francisco Public Library’s Historical Photograph Collection.

The website features a map of San Francisco with numbered dots pinned to a specific location. To see the history behind the dot, simply click on the dot and see the images, with a caption and the year they were taken show up.

Everything from Alcatraz to Yerba Buena Island to the Olympic Golf Course are represented.
