Homeland Security Warns of Zombie Attack

Homeland Security's warning of a zombie attack was real. Sort of.

If you can be safe from zombies, you can be safe from other disasters.

That's the message from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, which used the warning of "the zombies are coming!" on Thursday, according to media reports.

The government told citizens on Thursday to prepare for a zombie apocalypse, "with tongue planted firmly in cheek," the media reported. The theory? "If you're prepared for a zombie atttack, the same preparations will help during a hurricane, pandemic, earthquake or terrorist" incident, the government reasoned.

Well, sure. But instead of stockpiling ammunition, citizens are asked to have "an emergency evacuation plan and a change of clothes, plus keeping on hand fresh water, extra medications and emergency flashlights," the media said.
