A small Peninsula neighborhood has been plagued the past two weeks by loud sounds of illegal fireworks.
Residents of the North Fair Oaks community in unincorporated San Mateo County said the nightly fireworks show sounds like explosions and gunfire.
"I hate it, I hate it, I hate it!" resident Dolores Sanchez said. "They're very scary because you don't know if they're gunshots or what they are."
Parents said kids are waking up scared and pets are in a panic when the fireworks show rocks the neighborhood.
The San Mateo County Sheriff's Department said an investigation has been launched and plan to saturate the area with deputies.
Residents said they are hoping the illegal shows are stopped before someone gets hurt or the fireworks start a fire.
