John Boehner Is Bringing the Republicans to Town

San Francisco and its liberal ways are not just for Nancy Pelosi anymore.

The former House speaker's replacement is coming into town Monday evening to raise money in her backyard.

Matier and Ross report that Republican House Speaker John Boehner will be in San Francisco Monday evening for a fundraiser before heading to the South Bay on Tuesday.

The Ohio politician comes to the City just weeks after President Barack Obama came to town to kick off the fundraising portion of his re-election bid. And just weeks after the president got heckled at one of his own private events.

Now Boehner will hope to build on some of that momentum and some of the Silicon Valley's wealth to raise money for the Republican party.

The fundraising dinner will be held at the Fairmont Hotel in Nob Hill where Michelle Obama and Jill Biden were able to raise $1.6 million with the help of Pelosi last October.

The price to get into Monday's Republican rally will be steep. The Chronicle's muckrakers report that $2,500 will buy you a chance to meet Boehner and his fellow Republicans.

For $5,000 you can have your picture taken with Boehner and for $25,000 you can talk about that picture while eating dinner with the Republican leader.
