KENSINGTON, Calif. (AP) — A Northern California police sergeant has finally been suspended after his gun was stolen last year, reportedly by an alleged prostitute in a hotel room.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that 47-year-old Sgt. Keith Barrow has also had "other substantial sanctions imposed upon him by the department."
Barrow's attorney Justin Buffington confirmed the suspension. Barrow works in Kensington, a small town next to Berkeley.
The incident began last May when Barrow, who was off duty, woke up in a Reno hotel room to find this badge, handcuffs and service pistol stolen by a prostitute who he had paid $70 for sex.
The next morning, the prostitute's pimp shot himself in the leg during an argument at a pawnshop. It was not immediately clear why the suspension took so long.
