A 66-year-old Kern County man was sentenced last week by Judge Laurel Brady to 94-years-to-life in prison for sexually abusing a child, according to Contra Costa County prosecutors.

At the conclusion of an eight-day trial in June, a jury found Delano resident Donaciano Rodriguez guilty on 11 felony counts, including penetration of a child under 10 and forced lewd acts on a child.

Prosecutors say the assaults occurred in Antioch, on multiple occasions and at multiple locations. The victim came forward in 2017, and Rodriguez has been in custody ever since his arrest later that year in Kern County.

Police say that after his arrest, he admitted to molesting the girl repeatedly and discussed specific acts that he perpetrated against her.

"The victim in this case and her family were very cooperative during the investigation and trial," Deputy District Attorney Bryan Tierney said Tuesday in a statement. "Without their help there would be no justice."
