Koko the Gorilla's Twitter Contest

Famous ape holds Haiku contest for her 40th birthday.

While some use Twitter to send lewd photos to college co-eds, others have found ways to use the social network to inspire creativity. Take Koko the gorilla for instance.

Koko will be turning 40 in July, and to celebrate, she is holding a Twitter-based Haiku contest.

The famous gorilla, who can speak American Sign Language made the announcement Wednesday, via a press release.

The contest will give Koko's global fan base an opportunity to creatively share their admiration for the ape.

Koko is able to share jokes, create and name works of art, and even read written words.

You can send your Koko Haiku's to @KokoTweets.
