Large Vegetation Fire Near Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Under Control

Alameda County firefighters on Saturday contained a large vegetation fire near Lawrence Livermore Laboratory that started Friday night.

Cal fire tweeted around 9 a.m. Saturday that the fire was 100 percent contained at 168 acres.

Friday's fire near Corral Hollow Road in an open area 15 miles southeast of Livermore known as Site 300 had grown to around 200 acres as of 9:45 p.m. At that point, it was only around 5 percent contained, according to Cal Fire officials.

Briana Bishop, a spokeswoman for the lab, said the fire was reported at 8:19 p.m. after heavy winds in the area knocked down a power line.
