    Now that you’ve heard from our presidential candidates in last night’s debate, learn about who is on the November ballot for city offices in San Mateo County at a forum near you.

    Throughout the next month, the League of Women Voters of North and Central San Mateo County is hosting a series of forums for candidates in special elections, city council and school district races. Here is a look at the upcoming month of events open to the public.

    San Mateo County Harbor District Candidate Forum

    Incumbents Virginia Chang Kiraly, Sabrina Brennan and Tom Mattusch as well as Shawn Mooney are competing for three, four-year terms on the commission. There is a two-year seat previously held by Virginia Chang Kiraly that Brian Rogers and Ed Laderas will be on the ballot for.

    7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28 at Granada Community Services District Community Room, 3rd Floor, 504 Avenue Alhambra El Granada, CA 94018

    Midcoast Community Council and the Montara Water and Sewer District Candidate Forum

    Current Montara Water and Sewer Board of Directors Members Scott Boyd and Kathryn Slater-Carter are up for reelection this November for a four-year term. Thomas “Gus” Peterson will also be running. Current Midcoast Community Councilmembers Daniel Haggerty, Lisa Ketcham and Laura Stein will be on the November ballot seeking reelection with Barbra Matheweson and Brandon Kwan seeking two-year terms.

    Half Moon Bay City Council Candidate Forum

    Neither councilmembers Marina M. Fraser and John Mullar are running for reelection this November. Adam Eisen, Carol Joyce, Harvey Rarback and Michael Thompson are running for the two open seats.

    7 p.m Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Emergency Operation Center, 537 Kelly Ave. Half Moon Bay, CA 94019

    Brisbane School District Candidate Forum

    Lillian Markind, Yahim “Kima” Hayuk, Rual Alcaraz and Jacque Mclaughlin have qualified for the ballot and will be running for the two open seats.

    6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Lipman Middle School at 1 Solano St. Brisbane, CA 94005

    Cabrillo Unified School District Candidate Forum

    Kate Livingston is up for reelection this November with Sophia Layne and Kimberly Hines also running for two open seats.

    7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Granada Community Services District Community Room, 3rd floor, 504 Avenue Alhambra El Granada, CA 94018

    Colma City Council Candidate Forum

    Current Councilmembers Diana Colvin and Raquel "Rae" Gonzalez are up for reelection this November for four-year terms, while Councilmember Joseph A. Silva will not be seeking reelection. Barry Lazardo, Laura Walsh and John Irish Goodwin will be seeking one of the three open seats as well.

    6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Colma Community Center 1520 Hillside Blvd. Colma, CA 94014

    Daly City City Council Candidate Forum

    Current City Clerk Annette Hipona and Treasurer Daneca Halvorson are running unopposed for reelection while Councilmembers David J. Canepa and Gonzalo "Sal" Torres will not be seeking reelection. Juslyn Manalo, Glenn Sylvester, Braxton Lethco, Gabriella Makstman, Claro “Larry” Formalejo and Dana Claire Smith will be seeking election to one of those two open seats.
