San Francisco native Daniel Handler aka author Lemony Snicket announced that he and his wife Lisa Brown have donated $1M to Planned Parenthood.
Handler, who grew up in San Francisco and graduated from Lowell High School before going on to publish dozens of of children's novels that have sold millions around the world, made the donation public via Twitter.
"We've been very fortunate," he wrote, "and good fortune should be shared with noble causes."
BuzzFeed noted that Planned Parenthood tweeted a message of gratitude back to Handler and Brown.
"This year, Planned Parenthood has gone through a series of unfortunate events, and it felt right to make our support more public and more dramatic," Brown told the publication.
