The lights went out at SAP Center in San Jose during Thursday night's game between the San Jose Sharks and the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Sharks officials said the sports-lighting system inexplicably turned off late in the second period. All other electrical systems and facility lighting operated normally, the team said.
The two teams left the ice and went to their respective dressing rooms with 2:42 remaining in the second period. After the lights were restored, they returned to finish the second period and immediately started the third period.
The Sharks defeated the Blue Jackets 3-1.
There was no indication whether rainy and windy conditions in the South Bay contributed to the cause of the outage.
The SAP Center staff was investigating the issue, but all systems appeared to be operating normally, Sharks officials said.
