A motorcyclist killed in a motorcycle crash on state Highway 17 Thursday night has been identified by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office as Michael Predac of Los Gatos, officials said.
Predac, 31, was riding a 2003 Yamaha motorcycle just before 10 p.m. when he lost control on northbound Highway 17 south of Redwood Drive near the Santa Cruz County line, California Highway Patrol Officer Jonathan Short said.
Predac, who was wearing a helmet, was killed when he collided with the center divider and was thrown to the roadway.
The crash shut down the northbound side of the highway for more than four hours. Authorities diverted traffic off Highway 17 at Summit Road toward Old Santa Cruz Highway.
