Madison Bumgarner Gives Jimmy Fallon a Special “MadBum” Gift

“It’s been an unbelievable ride so far and hopefully there is more to come,” Bumgarner said.

San Francisco Giants’ Madison Bumgarner is a three-time World Series champion, an ace pitcher, a World Series MVP, and possibly the next country music star.

The left-handed pitcher from Hickory, North Carolina, stopped by “The Tonight Show” Monday and chatted with Jimmy Fallon about trucks, starting a band with another player, and leading the San Francisco Giants to their third World Series title in the past five years.

Bumgarner even brought out the World Series Trophy, which he claims he takes “everywhere.”

“I keep it in my truck at all times,” Bumgarner joked.

Fallon then asked the 25-year-old pitching ace to take him through the emotions Bumgarner felt while walking towards the pitching mound in the fifth inning of game seven at the opposing team’s stadium.

“I really wanted to start crying, and turn around and run back to the bullpen,” Bumgarner revealed.

Thankfully for San Francisco fans, their MVP got it together. After giving up one hit to Omar Infante, Bumgarner threw five scoreless innings on two day’s rest, leading the Giants to clinch a 3-2 win over the Kansas City Royals in Game 7.

“It’s been an unbelievable ride so far and hopefully there is more to come,” Bumgarner said.

What else is there after already breaking so many records including most pitches in the post season and the lowest ERA in World Series history?

“It must be tough talking about you,” Fallon said to a visibly embarrassed Bumgarner. “That’s why I am doing all the talking. You’re great. You’re really great.”

Bumgarner then presented Fallon with an unusual gift: a pair of underwear with the name "MadBum" written accross, a nickname San Fransisco fans gave their star pitcher. Of course, the “Tonight Show” host put them on immediately.

“You never thought that you would win the World Series, and I never thought that Madison Bumgarner would give me underwear,” Fallon joked.
