San Jose police got into what they describe as a very violent fight last night with a man in his 20's.
When it was over, the suspect was dead and the two officers ended up at the hospital.
Around 10:30 p.m., the 2 officers responded to the 2200 block of Amador Drive in East San Jose.
It's not clear if it was a 911 call or something else that drew them there.
They arrived and found a man in the backyard of someone's home.
When they tried to contact him and take him into custody, he put up quite a fight, according to police.
At one point, police jolted the man using a Taser.

The man then showed signs of some sort of "medical duress."
Another officer arrived and tried to revive the man with CPR, but he died.
Police say it will be up to a coroner to figure out if the Taser or something else is to blame for his death.
Both officers were treated and released. One for cuts on his face, the other for an inury to his leg.
Investigators interviewed the officers this morning.
San Jose homicide, internal-affairs and the D.A. are investigating what happened last night as is standard operating procedure when someone dies in custody.
Six people, including last night's suspect, have died after being stunned with a Taser by San Jose police since 2004.
