Man Shot, Killed in Vehicle at Petaluma Outlets Saturday Night

Police are investigating a crime scene early Sunday after officers found a man who had been involved in a solo-vehicle crash at the Petaluma Village Premium Outlets on Saturday night had been fatally shot.

Numerous gunshots were first reported, followed by the crash at about 8 p.m. at the southern parking lot of the stores located at 2200 Petaluma Blvd. N., Lt. Brian Miller said. Officers arrived to find a vehicle with a man inside who had been shot and provided medical aid along with paramedics, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Miller said investigators believe the man didn't commit suicide, but didn't have any suspects as of early Sunday morning. The victim hasn't been identified.

As of 2:20 a.m., investigators were still at the scene combing through evidence, Miller said. He confirmed that some employees and shoppers haven't been able to retrieve their cars within the crime scene area as of early Sunday.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Petaluma Police Detective Walt Spiller at (707) 778-4456.
