Suspect at Large After Stabbing Coworker With Kitchen Knife in Dinner Gone Wrong: Police

Sheriff's deputies in Monterey County are searching for a 22-year-old field worker after he allegedly stabbed a coworker with a kitchen knife and stole the victim's truck Friday night.

Deputies responded to a home on the 700 block of San Juan Grade Road, north of Salinas, around 8:44 p.m., authorities said.

Eduardo Cardenas, of Salinas, was at the victim's home for dinner during the incident.

Cardenas allegedly stabbed the victim in the torso with a kitchen knife before stealing a truck and fleeing the scene, according to deputies.

The victim, whose gender remains unknown, was transported to a hospital by ambulance.

Efforts to find Cardenas in the vicinity of the victim's home were unsuccessful, deputies said.

The stolen vehicle is described as a black 2006 Toyota pickup, license No. 8S60419.
