Man Swipes Jewel From Store in Walnut Creek

Police are searching for a man who swiped a jewel from a jewelry store in Walnut Creek earlier this month.

After entering King's Jewelers on Oct. 12 and briefly perusing the store, the man asked to take a peek at a loose jewel, according to police. A split second after an employee placed the jewel in the man's hands, he took off running and hopped in a waiting car.

The man, who is believed to be in his 20s, is thin, has wavy, black hair, and was wearing a white button-up shirt and black pants at the time of the heist, according to police.

His getaway car, which was driven by a woman, was described as being a green, two-door Saturn with "Lasher" paper plates, according to police.

Anyone with information about the theft is encouraged to contact Sgt. David Rangel at 925-256-3573 or send an email to rangel@walnutcreekpd.com.
