Man Tending Goats Identified as South Bay Shooting Victim

Santa Clara County sheriff's say it was a shepherd who died last week in the hills of unincorporated Morgan Hill.

The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office identified the shooting victim as Carlos Alberto Valencia, 24, of San Jose

Investigators say Valencia was shot while tending goats on property above Uvas Reservoir.

Early last Friday morning, someone called 911 call to report a suspicious circumstance in the area of Sheila Avenue and Prom Drive.  After responding to that call, deputies found Valencia's body on a ridge.

They said a marijuana farm was located nearby.

 Valencia's body had at least one gunshot wound. Investigators said the  case was initially investigated as a suspicious death.

The press release did not mention any motive or suspects.
