Man Uses Gasoline in Stockton in Murder-Suicide

Stockton police say a man suspected of attacking his estranged wife used gasoline to burn her and himself to death.

Police spokesman Joe Silva tells the Stockton Record Robert Ceja-Martinez beat his wife, poured gasoline on her and set her on fire. The 46-year-old man then set himself ablaze.

Silva says the investigation on the Sunday attack is ongoing and that is not clear whether the victim was deceased when she was set on fire. Both were declared deceased at the scene in what Stockton police are investigating as a murder-suicide.

Family members say the 63-year-old woman identified as Norma Moreno obtained on Friday a five-year restraining order from a judge against Ceja-Martinez.

One of the couple's daughters says her parents had been an abusive relationship for decades.
