Man Vanishes After Renting Paddle Board, Taking Selfies in Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (AP) — Authorities need the public's help in finding a missing man after a boater spotted the paddle board he rented abandoned.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported Friday that Wednesday night police received a call from the shop where the man rented the board saying he had not returned. Earlier in the day, a boater discovered a board about a half mile from the marina, along with a camera, selfie stick and life jacket.

A search was conducted Wednesday and Thursday.

The man's name and age were not released. Police say he speaks limited English.

Searchers found a paddle believed to be associated with the board in eight feet of water. Authorities said that spot is near a drop-off where the water is several hundred feet deep.

No one associated with the man has reported him missing.
