Man and Woman Fatally Shot in SF's Mission District: Police

Two people were fatally shot Sunday night in San Francisco's Mission district, according to San Francisco police.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire near a homeless encampment at 16th Street and South Van Ness Avenue about 8:45 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, they found a woman and a man suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.

The woman, in her 20s or 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The man, also in his 20s or 30s, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead, police said.

Another shooting occurred at nearby Valencia and 14th streets, leaving a man in his 40s with injuries not considered life-threatening, police said. It was unclear whether the second shooting was related to the double-fatal shooting, police said.

Police did not have a motive for either shooting nor did they identify any suspects.
