Mission District McDonald's Closes

A Mission District McDonald's has unexpectedly closed following problems at a nearby location.

Socketsite noted that the McDonald's at 2011 Mission Street (Mission at 16th Street) shut down on Sunday night and that no plans from the site or storefront have been submitted from anyone to the city of San Francisco.

A second Mission District location at 2801 Mission Street (Mission at 24th Street) remains open.

The closure follows recent news of the McDonald's location at 793 Stanyan Street in the Haight being declared a crime magnet and a "public nuisance" in a letter City Attorney Dennis Herrera sent to McDonald's CEO Steve Easterbrook. The owner of that location has since responded by hiring a private security guard.

The 16th and Mission location is the second Golden Arches to fold in San Francisco this year. McDonald's suddenly closed its Van Ness Street location in January after 36 years in business, Hoodline reported.
