Memorial Growing for Girl, 14, Killed by VTA Light Rail Train in San Jose

A memorial is growing Sunday morning for a 14-year-old girl who was hit and killed by a light rail train in San Jose near Campbell.

Friends are honoring Danika Garcia with flowers and signs near the accident scene.

Deputies say Danika was riding her bike on Southwest Expressway Friday morning when she was hit just across the street from her high school.

Friends say she was kind girl.

"She was an open girl," Garcia's friend Faven Demessai said. "She loved to sing. She couldn't care less about what people said about her. She was so kind a caring."

Extra counselors are scheduled to be at the Del Mar High School campus when classes resume on Tuesday.
