A former San Francisco firefighter indicted on DUI charges after he allegedly drove a ladder truck into a motorcyclist and left the scene has made his first appearance in court.
Michael Quinn did not enter a plea during his arraignment in San Francisco Superior Court on Wednesday. The 43-year-old Quinn was indicted by a grand jury on Monday on three felonies in connection with the crash last June.
Prosecutors say Quinn was driving with the siren blaring, responding to what turned out to be a false alarm, when he struck the motorcyclist. Quinn reportedly was spotted at a bar guzzling water immediately after the crash. His blood-alcohol level was measured at .13 percent.
The motorcyclist suffered broken bones and a punctured lung.
Quinn is due back in court on April 21.
