Millbrae Vice Mayor Nadia Holober Dies

The vice mayor of Millbrae passed away this week and was working up until her death, city officials said today.

Vice Mayor Nadia Holober worked for the city for the past 14 after she moved with her family to Millbrae in 1991.

She was first elected to the City Council in 1999 and served as mayor in 2003 and 2004. She was elected to her third term on the council in 2009, after which she worked her second term as vice mayor.

She is survived by her husband Richard and her sons Ruben and Evan. According to her personal website, Holober graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a bachelor of arts in political science.

She then went on to get a law degree from UC Hastings in San Francisco in 1989.  

Millbrae Mayor Gina Papan said in a statement today Holober's "unflagging spirit of community involvement and support will be greatly missed by all the residents of Millbrae."

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Dunstan Catholic Church, located at 1133 Broadway in Millbrae.
