Milpitas School Officials Reverse Suspension for Student in Prom “Pony Proposal”

A Milpitas High School student's unique prom proposal not only got him a date, but also a suspension. But now it appears school officials have had a change of heart.

Miguel Gonzales rode into campus on a horse during what is being called the "pony proposal." However, officials said the animal could pose a risk on campus property and goes against school policy.

The risky move landed Gonzales in the principal's office, where he was initially given a two-day suspension and mandatory community service hours.

"I think this type of creativity should be valued by the school," student Sahil Hansalia said. "I think suspending someone for that -- it's hindering his expression."

Gonzales was ordered to stay off school property Friday, but before the afternoon bell rang school officials had changed their minds and said the suspension was too far reaching.

The suspension has been reversed and will not go on his record. Gonzales still has to complete community service.
