Mom Who Kidnapped Own Kids Sought by Cops

Morgan Hill police are seeking the mother of two children she is alleged to have kidnapped.

The kids are all right. But the mom is sought by law enforcement.

Morgan Hill police are looking for local resident Nelida Hernandez, who is accused of kidnapping her own children and who they believe may be headed to Mexico, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

Hernandez, 24, and an unknown female friend took her two children -- of whom she does not have custody -- from a Morgan Hill 7/11 on Sunday, according to the newspaper. She returned them to her mother's house on Thursday, a few hours after the children were reported kidnapped. The children, ages 5 and 9, are unharmed, the newspaper reported.

Hernandez lost custody of her children in June and does not have visitation rights, the newspaper reported.

Anyone who sees her or her vehicle, which police believe is a silver or cream Ford Mustang, is asked to call Morgan Hill police at 408-779-2101.
