Power Restored to More Than 5,000 PG&E Customers in Cupertino Area

More than 5,000 PG&E customers were without power Wednesday in the Cupertino area, a utility spokesman said, but only 14 remaining customers are still affected.

An outage started at 3:24 p.m. impacting 5,847 customers, PG&E spokeswoman Mayra Tostado said.

The outage has been reduced to just 14 customers, PG&E spokesman J.D. Guidi said this evening, and the utility hopes to restore service to those customers by midnight.

The outage impacted De Anza Community College, where evening classes were cancelled as a result. Guidi said power has been restored to the campus, and school officials tweeted that classes are scheduled to resume as normal Thursday morning.

The cause of the outage was determined to be a failure of underground equipment near state Highway 85.
