Morgan Hill Man Dies in Rollover Crash on Highway 101

A 27-year-old Morgan Hill man died in a rollover crash on northbound U.S. Highway 101 in Gilroy early Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 12:40 a.m. on northbound Highway 101 north of Monterey Road.

The driver, whose name is not yet being released, was driving a 2007 Nissan Titan truck and lost control, driving off the west edge of the highway, CHP officials said.

The truck then struck a wood and metal guard rail in the center divider and overturned, coming to rest on its right side and pinning the driver inside. He was eventually extricated by emergency responders but was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the CHP.

The cause of the crash is under investigation but alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors.
