A San Mateo resident told police they saw a large animal that looked like a mountain lion in Laurelwood Park early Wednesday

The resident told police that the animal was not acting predatory or aggressive and that it was in its natural habitat when it was spotted around at 2 a.m. behind the 900 block of Viewridge Drive.

San Mateo police conducted a thorough search of the area but said they could not locate the mountain lion.
