San Francisco “Mummy House” Sells for 500K Over Listing Price Despite Dead Body

Call it the creepiest San Francisco real estate horror story of the month.

Curbed reported on the sale of a Lake District residence that had come to be colloquially known as the "Mummy House" for $1.56 million, more than half a million dollars over the listing price of $928,000.

The Victorian house earned the nickname of "Mummy House" in April, when SocketSite noted the discovery of a mummified corpse inside the Fourth Avenue home of a "severe hoarder who has been hospitalized." The deceased was later identified as the hoarder's mother, whose death was never reported.

San Francisco Magazine noted that the listing ad described the property as a "Major fixer with peaked roof. Rear lot may have expansion potential. Sold AS-IS, no warranty."
