Music Teacher Accused of Lewd Acts on 3 Girls in Daly City

A music teacher has been arrested on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts on three girls, according to the Daly City Police Department.

Danville-resident Brian Butts, 28, was arrested Saturday.

San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said Butts temporarily taught guitar and piano at MusicArt Studio, School of Music and Fine Arts in Daly City while the owner was in Spain.

When the owner of the school returned, a 13-year-old girl and 15-year-old girl reported Butts had touched their chest and breasts over their clothing, Wagstaffe said.

The owner contacted police, who then arrested Butts. A third girl after the arrest reported Butts touched her breast several times during piano class, Wagstaffe said.

The alleged crimes occurred between April and June of this year.

Butts was arraigned on Monday and pleaded not guilty to all 10 counts of lewd and lascivious behavior, Wagstaffe said.

Bail is set at $1.5 million and Butts is scheduled to return to court on June 25.

Butts faces life in prison if convicted, Wagstaffe said.

Anyone with information regarding Butts is asked to contact Det. Ron Harrison of the Daly City Police Department at 650-991-8175.
