Nearly 7,000 Without Power in San Francisco

Nearly 7,000 San Francisco residents as far north as Laurel Heights and as far south as Haight-Ashbury are without power.

Update: Power was restored after about an hour and a half.

Nearly 7,000 PG&E customers are without power in San Francisco this morning, a utility spokeswoman said.

The outage was reported at about 7:55 a.m. and is affecting neighborhoods as far north as Laurel Heights and as far south as Haight-Ashbury, PG&E spokeswoman Brittany McKannay said.

Crews are in the area to try to determine the cause of the outage, McKannay said.

There was no estimate as of 8:45 a.m. for when power might be restored to the affected customers, she said.

Another outage left more than 10,200 customers without power on Thursday night in the same area of San Francisco. Power was restored to those customers by about 11:30 p.m.

McKannay said it was not yet clear if the two outages are related.
