New Walgreens Not Welcome in SF Neighborhood

Walgreens is building its 68th store in the city.

Is there ever a limit to convenience?

Some San Francisco residents say yes.

If fact, they feel like they're being over-run by Walgreens all-purpose stores.

The company wants to open its 68th store in the city at the old Tower Records site, at Columbus Avenue and Bay Street.  It's currently under construction.

There are already two Walgreens, less than three blocks from the new location.

The company says the new store will be different - and include groceries, in addition to drug store items.

San Francisco, Chicago and New York City have the highest densities of Walgreens in the nation.  California has 611 stores.
