No Baby Daddy Needed For These Dolphins

Artificial insemination is not just for your human family planning anymore.  It's made its way into the animal kingdom.

Two bottlenose dolphins gave birth in the past month at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom thanks to outside sperm donors.

The babes are now old enough to meet their public.

The two little ones along with their mothers, 23-year-old Jasmine and 30-year-old Chelsea make their debut on Thursday in the Dolphin Harbor pool.

Discovery Kingdom says it chose to use artificial insemination to allow for greater genetic diversity.  The genes came from dolphins that aren't part of the park’s current population.

The park is also hosting a naming contest presented by Hawaiian Airlines.  Participants will be asked to submit Hawaiian names with the winners getting a ticket to Hawaii.
