No Football for Raiders a Good Thing?

Sometimes less is "more." Usually more is "more." But rarely is none "more" -- especially if you're the Oakland Raiders.

The NFL and the players union are still locked in their labor battle -- but if it keeps dragging on and cancels next season, it could actually save one Bay Area city some money.

The New York Times reports the Raiders would probably see a net gain if no games are played this season.

The interim director of the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum told the Times that's because it costs so much to put on the games.

The Raiders pay just $525,000 a year in rent to the coliseum.  But it does not collect enough revenue from concession sales and parking receipts to cover its costs.

Meanwhile, San Francisco's recreation and parks department stands to lose nearly $5 million if the season is canceled.
