Noisy BART Buses Annoy West Oakland Neighbors

It turns out the BART strike is impacting a neighborhood in Oakland in all the wrong ways.

Brenda Overton says she has had it with the chartered buses that pull up next to her home right outside the West Oakland BART station every morning at 4:30 a.m.

Overton says the buses' loud engines wake up her and her family and the rest of the neighbors who live directly across the street.

“I just came from a heart attack, my mother-in-law is up in age, my neighbor is almost 90,” Overton said. “This is too much…If you're loading and unloading, that's one thing, but if you're sitting idle making all this noise, I don't understand that.”

Overton said she wishes the buses would pull into the BART station for pick-up. NBC Bay Area asked a bus driver why they don't, and he said they were told not to.
