North Bay Police Accomplish DUI Warrant Sweep

Eight people with outstanding warrants for driving under the influence of alcohol were arrested in Santa Rosa last week during a department sweep, according to police.

Police said officers with dozens of outstanding DUI warrants made their way through several neighborhoods looking for high-risk offenders.

According to police, officers both served warrants and arrested eight offenders who had failed to show up for court or violated their terms of probation.

The operation is an attempt to lower deaths and injury as a result of driving under the influence, as well as to remove impaired drivers from the road, according to police.

Funding for the operation is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, police said.
