North Coast Gets Quake Up Call

Police say no one reported feeling a magnitude-4.4 earthquake centered in the Pacific Ocean west of Eureka.

The U.S. Geological Survey preliminary computer generated report shows the epicenter of the 5:05 a.m. quake was 54 miles west of Eureka, which is 270 miles north of San Francisco in Humboldt County.

Eureka police-fire dispatcher Jennifer Braud says no one called to report feeling the quake and she didn't feel a thing.

A moderate 6.5 quake hit the same general area last winter causing significant damage.  See attached photos of the damage.
