Nursing Student Disappears from Class

Le's family has not spoken to the media, but have been cooperative with police.

Family, friends and police are spending a forth day looking for a Hayward nursing student  who walked out of a class Friday evening during a break and did not return.

Michelle Hoang Thi Le, 26, was last seen at 7 p.m. on Friday at  Kaiser Hospital at 27303 Sleepy Hollow Ave. South, according to police.  Her classmates said that she left some of the school gear behind.  Le was taking classes from Samuel Merritt University. The university said Monday that the school community is "deeply concerned about the disappearance of our nursing student Michelle Le."

The school said that police have conducted interviews with family, friends and acquaintances and that they are following up on leads.

Le told fellow students about a weekend trip to Reno, but did not show up there. Her cell phone has gone unanswered since Friday.

Police found her Honda SUV parked a few blocks from class. As of early Monday police were still waiting for a search warrant to get inside the vehicle to look for clues.

Anyone with information about Le's whereabouts is encouraged to  call Hayward police at (510) 293-7000.
