Oakland police responding to reports of gunshots Friday morning said they encountered a man taking aim at a tow truck.
Officers responded about 9:20 a.m. to the 900 block of 7th Street, where they found the suspect still shooting at the truck. Police said the suspect fled the scene, but only made it about a block away before he was detained.
The man is now in police custody.
Police report damage to the tow truck and several other vehicles in the area.
No injuries have been reported.
