Oakland Police Search Closes Lanes Along Interstate 580

Traffic backed up as lanes shut down on eastbound Interstate Highway 580 Monday afternoon as Oakland police conducted a search for a vehicle from a robbery, California Highway Patrol officials said.

CHP officers were asked to assist in the search at around 3:30 p.m. Monday, prompting the closure of the two right lanes around 98th Avenue in East Oakland, according to the CHP.

Oakland police said the search, which began at Oak Knoll Boulevard and Granada Avenue, was for a suspect vehicle from a robbery.

The vehicle apparently had four occupants and all four suspects have been detained, police said.

All lanes were reopened by 6 p.m.
