Oakland Rents Up 20% in Past Year: Report

A new real estate rent report finds the median price for a one-bedroom apartment in Oakland is up by 20 percent over the past year.

Zumper, which calculates monthly national rent reports, noted in its August report that Oakland tops the country when it comes to a leap in the median price of one-bedroom rentals, which now stands at $1,980.

The median was $1,850 in last month's report.

But Oakland's median still pales in comparison to San Francisco, which Zumper pinpointed at $3,500 for August.

San Francisco took the top slot in the report, while San Jose followed at No. 4, with a median of $2,230. Oakland landed at No. 6.
