The oldest building in Oakland is only seven years younger than California itself.
It dates from 1857 -- and it now houses a vegan soul food restaurant.
Souley Vegan near Jack London Square has moved into the small "brick-and-plaster" building at 301 Broadway, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
The nondescript building is in the same company as much more well-known structures including Mission Dolores in San Francisco.
And it hasn't changed much in that time, the newspaper reported -- aside from electricity and indoor plumbing, of course.
