Officer-Involved Shooting in Castro Valley

Witnesses say an unmarked car was in pursuit of a speeding vehicle.

The Alameda County Sheriff's office has confimed that an officer was involved in a shooting this afternoon in Castro Valley at around 4 p.m..

Police got a tip that a murder suspect was at the corner of Grove and Queen streets. When police arrived there was a confrontation with the suspect and police fired and shot the suspect.

The injured man got into his car and proceeded to Center and David Streets, where he jumped out and attempted to hide behind a home. The homeowner said the suspect was hiding under his deck when a police dog attacked the injured man.

He was then taken to Eden Hospital, suffering from a gunshot wound and dog bites.

Sheriff's deputies say they have been looking for the suspect for about a month.
