Ohlone Indian Remains Uncovered at Pleasanton Construction Site

Work on an apartment complex has uncovered an ancient Indian settlement.

Archaeologists have been dispatched to a construction site in Pleasanton near Interstate 680 to analyze the findings unearthed by bulldozers, the Contra Costa Times reported.

The exact location of the find is being kept secret to protect it, the newspaper reported, but is part of a "large village site," said Ramona Garibay, an Ohlone descendant who has been appointed site monitor.

Depending on the findings, the remains might be reburied on-site or relocated elsewhere, the newspaper reported.
