Firefighters battle a 2-alarm fire in Vallejo on Valle Vista. June 23, 2015

An early Tuesday morning fire in Vallejo sent one person to the hospital with serious burns.

The two-alarm fire was reported shortly after midnight in a garage on Valle Vista, firefighters said. Two people were inside the home. A man suffered second- and third-degree burns, firefighters said. The woman inside got out unscathed, and she was able to rescue the cat and dog.

The fire is still under investigation but crews on the scene believe it may have been caused by a welding accident. The man was trying to weld a leaky gas tank, firefighters said.
