One Dead, Four Injured After Accident Involving U-Turn in San Jose

One person was killed and four others injured Saturday morning in a two-vehicle accident in which one of the drivers was making a suspected illegal U-turn, San Jose police said.

A Honda Accord was headed south in the 800 block of South Jackson Avenue at 11:07 a.m. Saturday when its driver made a U-turn to head north on Jackson. As the U-turn was being made, a southbound Chevy Trailblazer struck the Honda, according to San Jose police Officer Gina Tepoorten.

Both drivers and three passengers in the Honda were all taken to a nearby hospital, where one of the Honda passengers died a short time later. The name of the person who died was not available tonight.

This was San Jose's 44th fatal traffic accident of 2018, and the victim was the 46th person to die in those accidents.

San Jose police continue to investigate the accident. Anyone with information is urged to contact police Det. Brian McMahon of the San Jose

Police Department's Traffic Investigations Unit at (408) 277-4654.
