The Santa Clara County Open Space Authority on Monday first shared images of local wildlife it has been videotaping over the past decade.
Wildlife experts said the pictures appear to show the mountain lion, American badger, bobcat and wild pig populations are growing in the South Bay.
The images released to the public are courtesy of 50 cameras installed in remote areas, including Coyote Valley Open Space near Morgan Hill and Sierra Vista Open Space Preserve near Alum Rock Park.
In addition, the images have captured the toll California's severe drought has taken on the region.
But the cameras have also captured a success story. Images show the Bay Checkerspot butterfly, which is on the federal list of threatened species, is making a comeback in the South Bay.
